Waterfalls

Corrimony Cairn and Nature Reserve

When you reach the car park for the cairn and reserve there is an information board with a suggested walk to Loch Comhnard and back which is approximately 8 km for the round trip.

Cross the road for the cairn and continue down the road, the cairn is on the right-hand side. The cairn is fenced, and there are standing stones and information boards. Corrimony Cairn is a "Passage Grave", which are known for holding both cremated and un-cremated remains.

Plodda Falls

Plodda Falls feature a wrought iron bridge built by Lord Tweedmouth in 1880. The falls are spectacular with two rivers meeting and joining at the falls. Once you have been on the bridge you can follow the path down to the viewing area at the bottom of the falls. You can then continue down to meet up on other paths through the forest where you are likely to see red deer, beautiful butterflies and many other creatures, many of which are quite rare in Britain.

The paths are good - although again, not suitable for wheelchairs. There is a lovely walk at the bottom of the falls which would be suitable for wheelchairs as it runs along a track. From the A831, either from Beauly or Drumnadrochit, take the unclassified road signposted to Tomich. Go through Tomich and continue along the forest track. Plodda forest and car park are located approximately 3.5miles along the track.

Dog Falls

To reach Dog Falls (coming from Drumnadrochit) go into Cannich and turn left at the junction, keep going, exit the village and you will come to a hydro station where there is a turning to the right, follow the signs for Dog Falls. There is a good car-park with toilet facilities and information boards as well as footpaths to Dog Falls. This is not suitable for disabled.
